Early Life and Career

Thomas Michael Moore, known professionally as Tom Berenger, was born on May 31, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. He began his acting career in the late 1970s, appearing in small roles before gaining recognition for his performance in the 1980 crime drama "The Buddy Holly Story."

Accolades and Success

Berenger has since starred in numerous films and television series, earning critical acclaim and awards for his work. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Platoon" (1986) and won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series for "The Hatfields and the McCoys" (2012). He has also received two Emmy Awards, one for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Special for "Gettysburg" (2011) and the other for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for "Hatfields & McCoys" (2012).
