This summer Arena di Verona celebrates 99 years with an impressive opera program, starting on June 17th and running until September 4th, 2022.

The festival opens with Verdi's Nabucco with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Arena di Verona conducted by Maestro Marco Armiliato, and stage direction by Franco Zeffirelli. The title role will be sung by Plácido Domingo, who will also sing the role of Macbeth in Verdi's opera of the same name on July 21st.

The first three performances of Puccini's Turandot boasted Russian diva Anna Netrebko as Turandot and Yusif Eyvazov as Calaf, a real-life married couple now operatically wed as well.

Since her debut at the Arena di Verona in 2019 as Leonora in Verdi's Il Trovatore, Anna Netrebko has appeared every year, playing the title roles of Aida, Abigaille in Nabucco, and Violetta in La Traviata. In August 2022, she sang Puccini's Turandot.
